Eileen Strickland is a recognized portrait artist, who captures the spirit
of a beloved family member or pet in her paintings. Her oil techniques result
in a realistic painting to be treasured by the owner. Prolific and enthusiastic,
painting has
become her passion, especially creating a personalized, custom
painting for someone. Her medium preference is oil. Eileen is known for her
exacting detail, vivid color, and realistic style. She creates her paintings from photographs.
Eileen has been commissioned to paint over 180
pieces in the last ten years. She enjoys subject variety, to include portraits, of people
and pets, to landscapes, seascapes, architecture, and still life. She has also painted several wall murals.
Eileen
studied with several local artists and nationally known artists such as David Weaver, Luanna Winner, Peggy Baumgaertner,
and Robert Way. She is a member of Artists League of the Sandhills in Aberdeen, North Carolina
and exhibits in local art shows. She is an art instructor at the Artists League of the Sandhills and offers indvidual
art lessons to students in her studio. Her art hangs in private
and public collections in Arizona, California, South Carolina, and throughout North Carolina.

Art Statement:
"I am passionate about detail and intense color to create a realistic painting. I enjoy using
color boldly and distinctly in my oil paintings to create a richness and use transparent glazes to achieve luminosity."
Eileen received 2nd Place Award in a Juried Show at the Artist League in June,
2009 for an oil portrait of her son,"Eric Strickland." She also received an Honorable Mention Award for
an oil seascape, "The Salt Run Inlet."
